(My kids used to call it this. They grew out of it, but I don't have to.)
Sure, we talk about this being a day of love, but let's try and keep the real reasons for the season in our hearts and minds.
I had a really great post planned discussing the historical significance of Alexender Fleming and the discovery of penicillin.
The story I had heard was that he discovered it on Valentine's Day of 1929.
I was going to discuss that wonderdrug in its role as the great slayer of venereal diseases, reducing them from a potential slow lingering death sentences to potential annoyances and embarrassments (and not to mention the myriad other ways it saved lives).
The trouble is that a few minutes on the Googles showed me that this was completely wrong. Even worse, thirty more seconds of searching showed me that the amazing Rebecca Bigelow did a MUCH better job explaining how it exactly folded out.
So it goes.
Tonight's setlist is at least theoretically based around romance.
Love, heartbreak, hope, hugging and kissing, handholding, and the horizontal mambo.
(And/or the vertical mambo, the parallel bars, skew reverse cowbell, tangential triple play, solar chakra shocker . . . no judgement here. . . )
